Rebecca Zappelli BSc (Health Promotion)

Rebecca Zappelli has worked in the area of health promotion and health policy for a number of years, working with government and non-government organizations in Australia, United Kingdom and now in Canada. Her skills in project management, policy development, analysis, health promotion programing and community engagement have seen her contribute to a number of successful health programs and policy initiatives in Australia and the United Kingdom. Since moving to British Columbia, Rebecca is now a Health Promotion and Policy consultant applying her expertise in health policy and health promotion to a number of organisations in BC.
Rebecca has been engaged as a Project Manager for the Centre Applied Research in Mental Health and Addiction (CARMHA) at Simon Fraser University to support CAMRHA on a number of mental health initiatives. She is also currently leading an environmental scan on Stigma, Discrimination and Social Inclusion auspiced by the Healthy Minds Healthy People (HMHP) Directorate, BC Ministry of Health. This work looks to addressing the needs of people with moderate to severe mental health and substance use conditions in BC through developing a series of recommendations for the HMHP and its partners.
Rebecca has also worked with regional, remote and Aboriginal communities in Western Australia, developing local health promotion interventions with a strong and successful focus on meaningful, sustainable community engagement, with a number of initiatives still ongoing today. Rebecca has also held senior policy roles in the WA government most recently she has worked with the WA Mental Health Commission: a government agency charged with state-wide mental health reform.
